La Liga Review: Barcelona Extend Lead With Tough Away Result At Eibar As Valencia Strengthen Top Four Bid With Victory

Spanish La Liga leaders Barcelona have extended their lead at the top of the table to 10 points after they recorded a hard-earned win at 10-man Eibar in their Matchday 24 clash.

Luis Suarez gave the Nou Camp giants a first half lead before Jordi Alba added a second goal with fulltime approaching to calm frayed nerves amidst consistent pressure from the hosts thereby wrapping up the points against 10-man Eibar who had Fabian Orellana sent off in the last quarter of the game.

Orellana, who had hit the post in the first half, was given his marching orders after two yellow cards in quick succession.

Barcelona have now gone a club record equalling 31 league games without defeat.

Atletico Madrid can cut Barcelona’s lead back to 7 points if they beat Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
