Real Sociedad captain Asier Illaramendi has signed a new contract at the Basque club until 2023.
The 28-year-old rejoined his boyhood club in 2015 in a cut-price deal worth £12.5m after two unsuccessful years at Real Madrid.
He signed a six-year deal on his return to the club.
The Spanish international midfielder had earlier joined the European champions in 2013 after signing a six-year deal for a reported transfer fee of £28.5m.
His Real Sociedad contract was expected to run out in 2021 but he has now signed a two-year extension until 2023.
The news of his contract extension was revealed by the club’s official Twitter handle.
