The National Handball Championship for Under 18 and Under 21 teams commenced on Sunday, 17 March 2019 at the Rowe Sports Centre in Lagos with games in the men and women categories.

The first match of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) organised championship saw hosts Lagos suffer a narrow 26-25 loss to Mind Scope in the U18 category for women.

In other matches played in the U21 category for men on Sunday, Kwara saw off Bayelsa 38-29 while Lagos inflicted a heavy 55-31 defeat against Nasarawa much to the delight of the home fans.

More matches are billed for Monday at the Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba in both the U18 and U21 categories for men and women.
