Rohr Set To Drop Ezenwa For Argentina Clash

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has all but revealed that he would drop current first choice goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, ahead of the team’s international friendly clash with Argentina on Tuesday evening.

The Franco-German tactician was speaking ahead of the Argentina clash as he confirmed that he will make some changes and team captain John Mike Obi will return to the starting XI after he was rested for the Algeria game.

In his words, Rohr said:

“Mikel of course will come back. He didn’t play against Algeria because it was not a good moment for him coming from China. Playing two games in four days is a risk for him and we both agreed that it was best for him to sit out.”

“Against Argentina we will make some changes with two or three players. It will be interesting to see another goalkeeper. We have to work hard to be better.” he further stated.

Former junior international Francis Uzoho might likely take Ezenwa’s place against 2-time world champions Argentina when both sides meet at the Krasnodar Stadium in Krasnodar, Russia.

Uzoho has made the news of late after he made his Spanish La Liga debut for Deportivo La Coruna earlier in the season.
