Handball Nations Cup: Nigeria Beat Kenya To Boost Hopes Of Quarterfinals Spot

Nigeria’s women’s handball national team boosted their chances of making the quarter finals after they defeated Kenya at the ongoing Women’s Africa Handball Championship in Yaoundé.

Rafiu Salami’s side knew victory over Kenya in their final group game will provide them with a sliver of opportunity of making the last eight as one of two best losers in the group stage and the women approached the match intent on giving themselves the best possible chance.

Despite a determined challenge from the Kenyans, the Nigeria ladies pulled through to win 26-21 to record their first win at the championship after a 27-year absence.

Nigeria will have to wait to see if they qualify for the quarter finals following the conclusion if other group stage games.
