Trabzonspor midfielder John Mikel Obi has an open cheque to join Chelsea’s coaching crew once he brings his career on the pitch to an end.
Mikel’s Nigerian representative Babawo Mohammed is said to have leaked the information according to owngoalnigeria.com
The former Nigerian captain revealed his desire to assist Frank Lampard in October 2019 according to reports.
The open cheque was given by Chelsea owner Roman Abrahimovich as reward for his commitment to the club during his ten and a half years stint, the website reported.
” For now Mikel is pushing to win the league with Trabzonspor but in the future he will return to Chelsea as a coach maybe with the youth team or as one of the assistants of the first team. That promise was made to him by Abramovich,” Babawo was quoted as saying.
Trabzonspor are currently in second place in the Turkish Super Lig, one point behind leaders Istanbul Basaksehir.
