NBBF Invites 28 Players To Atlanta Camp Ahead Of FIBA World Cup

Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has invited 28 players to the D’Tigress camp in Atlanta, United States ahead of the 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain in September.

The list includes eleven players from the 2017 Afrobasket winning team.

They include Evelyn Akhator of WNBA side Dallas Wings, Ify Ibekwe of WNBA side New York Liberty, team captain Aisha Mohammed, co-captain Ezinne Kalu, Sarah Ogoke, Cecilia Okoye, Nkechi Akashili, Upe Atosu, Atonye Nyingifa, Ugo Uwaigwe and Adaora Elonu.

Others invited by the Sam Vincent-led technical crew are Nicole Enabosi, Sarah Imovbioh, Nkem Akaraiwe, Uju Ugoka, Elem Ibiam, Patience Nene Okpe, Promise Amukamara, Ayoleka Sodade, Eilzabeth Balogun, James Juliet, Adaeze Alaeze, Felicia Aiyeotan, Amy Okonkwo, Edeferioka Elo, Ijeoma Ajemba, Jasmine Nwajei and Ashley Ezeh.

Invited players are expected to report to camp by July 18 before they return to Nigeria for the final phase of camping.

The team will then leave for Turkey to play some Grade A friendlies ahead of the 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Spain scheduled to run from September 22 to 30.

D’Tigress General Manager (GM) Amachree Mactabene also revealed that uninvited players can report to camp at their own expense for assessment by the coaching crew within the first week of training.
