Euro 2020: Christian Eriksen Stable After Collapse During Denmark vs Finland

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen is awake and reportedly stable after he collapsed and received CPR on the pitch during his country’s opening Euro 2020 match against Finland in Copenhagen.

The Inter star, 29, went down without contact during the opening half of the Group B match and required extensive medical attention on the pitch.

English referee Anthony Taylor called medics on to the pitch with players from both teams in clear distress.

Team-mates formed a shield around the former Tottenham man, while fans inside the stadium were clearly stunned by the incident, with some pictured in tears.

The former Ajax and Tottenham midfielder was taken to the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen were he remains in a stable condition.

UEFA initially suspended the match due to a medical emergency but a follow up statement said the match will resume after players were told Eriksen was stable and responding to treatment.
