Governor Ambode Of Lagos State Approves The Reconstruction Of Onikan Stadium

His Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has approved the reconstruction of the Onikan Stadium.

In a tweet by the Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Deji Tinubu, contractors that will carry out the reconstruction “have moved to site” and will commence work immediately over “12 months”.

The Onikan Stadium, which hosted NPFL games two season’s ago when Ikorodu United adopted it as their home ground, have been home to various Lagos teams like Stationery Stores F.C., First Bank, and Julius Berger FC.

Built in 1930 and with 5,000 capacity, Onikan stadium is also the oldest stadium in Nigeria.
