German Cup: Boniface Returns As Leverkusen Thrash Dusseldorf To Reach Final

Victor Boniface made his long awaited return to the Bayer Leverkusen team, as they hammered Fortuna Dusseldorf 4-0 to reach the final of the German Cup on Wednesday night.

Boniface, who has been out since January with a groin injury, came on for Patrik Schick in the 65th minute.

Also in action for Leverkusen was Nathan Tella, who was also introduced in the 65th minute.

The striker’s return will be a huge boost for the Super Eagles who will be involved in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June against South Africa.

A brace from Florian Wirtz and a goal each from Jeremiah Frimpong and Amine Adli secured Leverkusen’s first German Cup final appearance since 2020.

In the 2020 final, Leverkusen lost 4-2 to Bayern Munich.
