French Ligue 1 Review: Top Four Teams Remain Unchanged After Respective Wins

The top four teams in the French Ligue 1, Paris Saint Germain (PSG), AS Monaco, Lyon and Marseille, have maintained their positions following respective wins on Matchday 19.

League leaders PSG defeated Caen 3-1 at the Parc des Princes courtesy goals from in-form Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and left-back Yuri Berchiche while the visitors got their consolation through Ivan Santini (penalty) on the stroke of fulltime.

Defending champions Monaco kept up the chase on the leaders with a 2-1 win over Stade Rennes at home. Senegal forward Keita Balde scored the winner for the hosts after Whabi Khazri cancelled out Radamel Falcao’s opener for Monaco.

Olympique Lyon consolidated on third place following a 2-1 win at Tolouse with goals from Nabil Fekir (penalty) and Rafael while Max Gradel’s penalty at the end of the game proved to be mere consolation for the hosts.

Olympique Marseille kept the pressure on the top three with a 3-1 home win over Troyes through goals from Dmitri Payet, Luis Gustavo and Valerie Germain.
