French Cup Review: In-form Lyon Edge Monaco In Five-Goal Thriller To Secure Last 16 Place; PSG Also Through

In-form Olympique Lyon are through to the French Cup last 16 following their 3-2 win over French champions AS Monaco in a thrilling French Cup round of 64 clash on Wednesday night.

Stevan Jovetic gave hosts Monaco a 13th minute lead before two goals in four first half minutes from Bertrand Traore and Djibril Sidibe (own goal) turned the game in favour of the visitors.

Lyon striker Mariano Diaz added a third goal for the visitors before former Manchester City youngster Rony Lopes scored for Monaco to setup a grandstand finish but Bruno Genesio’s side held on for a fantastic win.

Holders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) didn’t pay the penalty in their French Cup round of 32 against Guingamp after they recorded a 4-2 win at the Parc Des Princes.

Adrien Rabiot, Lucas Deaux (own goal), Javier Pastore and Marquinhos were on target for PSG while successful penalties from Marcus Thuram and Yeni Gabakoto either side of halftime proved to be mere consolation for the visitors.
