Federer Beats Paire To Advance Into US Open Third Round

World number two Roger Federer is through to the US Open third round following his straightforward victory over Frenchman Benoit Paire in their second round clash.

Federer, 37, saw off his opponent in three straight sets 7-5 6-4 6-4 in one hour 56 minutes to setup a last 32 meeting with Nick Krygios of Australia.

Benoit Paire has now lost all his seven meetings against the Swiss.

Roger Federer is chasing a record sixth title at Flushing Meadows and controversial Australian Krygios is the next opponent in his way.

Kyrgios recovered from a set and a break down to win 4-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-0 against Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France in their second round clash on Thursday night.
