Lobi Stars Get ‘Group of Death’ in CAF Champions League Draw

Nigeria’s sole representative, Lobi Stars have been handed a tough group
at the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League in the draws which went down on Friday in Cairo, Egypt.

Lobi Stars who were selected as champions of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League had gone through the odds to beat Kenyan Champions, Gor Mahia 3-3 on aggregate.

The Ortom Boys lost 3-1 away in the first leg in Kenya but came back to grab a ticket to the group stage at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, beating K’Ogalo 2-0 – which was all they needed to get to the money spinning round of the continental club competition.

Lobi Stars who were placed in Level 4 of the pot are drawn in Group A with ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast, 2016 CAF Champions league champions Mamelodi Sundowns, and the formidable Wydad Athletic of Morroco.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates will battle FC Platinum of Zimbabwe, Horoya of Guinea, and 2018 champions Esperance.

In other fixtures; Group C – Al Ismaily, CS Constantine, Club Africain, TP Mazembe. Group D – JS Souara, Simba, AS Vita, Al Ahly
