Federation Cup: Men and Women Finals Get New Date

The final of the 2019 Federation Cup scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 24th July, has been shifted to Sunday, 28th July, a media release by organizers of the competition says.

2017 finalists Niger Tornadoes and 2018 contenders Kano Pillars had gone through the hurdles of the men’s 2019 Federation Cup tourney to book a place against each other in the final.

Niger Tornadoes are setting sights on winning their first Federation Cup trophy and consequently representing Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Minna based team had arrived Kaduna last weekend and will now have to wait a few more days before the final which is scheduled to hold at 4pm at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

Also, Nassarawa Amazons will take on defending champions Rivers Angels in the women’s finals as the Jewels of Rivers hope to continue their dominance in the tourney and will hope to repeat their 2013 Federation Cup finals 3-0 feat over the Solid Miners.

The change in date is believed to be due to the expected commencement of action in the Nigeria Women Premier League across different centers of the nation on Wednesday.
