NPFL: Abu Azeez Wants LMC To Borrow Leaf From Match Officials

Warri Wolves midfielder Abu Azeez has called on the organisers of the Nigeria Professional Football League to match the standards set by match officials whose improved refereeing this season he says has been a positive for the league.

Azeez who made the comments through his Twitter page said the league can only “get to the top” if other aspects such as organisation, branding and security arrangements also improved in like manner.

“One big positive in the NPFL this season is the officiating. If we can follow up with branding, security and administrative levels, we can get to the top soon,” the 25-year old wrote on Twitter.

Azeez’s comments comes after his side secured a 2-1 win at Nasarawa United, the latest in a trend that has seen teams secure a record number of wins away from home in the league this season.

This contrasts with the reputation the NPFL has acquired over the years where away wins were infrequent and often came at serious risk to life and limb of referees and opposing teams.
