Ike Shorunmu insisted that the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season will be a fierce contest.

Shorunmu, who is currently the goalkeepers’ coach at NPFL outfit, Abia Warriors said it is too early to pick a winner.

“The league is still open,” Shorunmu said in an exclusive interview with Completesports.com.

“You can’t say this is the team that is going to win now. You can’t mention the team that is going to win, now we need to wait towards the end of the season. You can see the way the league is going on now.

“So the league is still open, any team can come from anywhere and spring a surprise to win it. All teams are doing their best.”

Enyimba won the title for record ninth time last season.
