Europa League: Burnley Edge Aberdeen In Extra Time To Secure Third Round Qualification

Premier League side Burnley are through to the third qualifying round in the UEFA Europa League (UEL) after they defeated Aberdeen 4-2 on aggregate in their second round tie with the help of extra time.

After a 1-1 draw from the first leg, Burnley took an early lead through New Zealand international striker Chris Wood in the sixth minute before Lewis Ferguson produced a stunning overhead kick on 27 minutes to level proceedings for the Scottish Premier League (SPL) outfit.

That was how it stayed until the end of regulation time thus paving the way for extra time.

Jack Cork and Ashley Barnes (penalty) scored either side of halftime in extra time to take Burnley through to third round of qualifiers where they will face Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.

The first leg will be played next week Thursday in Turkey before the return leg seven days later to determine who will go through to the playoff round.
