Eagles Need A Miracle To Qualify From World Cup Group – Rohr

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has revealed that his team would require a miracle to qualify from their Russia 2018 World Cup group.

Nigeria will battle Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in Group D at this summer’s World Cup and the team’s Franco-German coach is not getting carried away by the magnitude of the task at hand.

Rohr further stated that the Super Eagles are the weakest team in the group with the team currently 52nd on the FIFA Ranking.

Gernot Rohr was speaking about his team and the World Cup in Russia to Polish news outlet Przeglad Sportowy

In his words, the former Niger Republic coach said: “We have a difficult group with Argentina, Croatia, and Iceland, to which we came from the fourth basket.”

”This shows that we are considered to be the weakest team in the group. Leaving the group will be a miracle. You can not expect the 52nd team in the FIFA ranking to win against the top teams.” he added.

Speaking further, Rohr said: “To get out of the group, you need to overtake not just one team.”

”In November, we defeated Argentina in a friendly and everyone in the country fell into euphoria.

”But you have to remember that the opponents played without Messi. And it’s like beating Poland without Lewandowski.

”On the other hand, we have the youngest team at the World Cup and with this youth you can do a lot. The outsiders role suits us.” Rohr concluded.
