CHAN 2018: Nigeria Beat Benin Republic 2-0 In Kano To Qualify For Kenya

The home base Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the 2018 Championship For African Nations (CHAN) in Kenya following a 2-1 aggregate victory over Benin Republic.

Having lost the first leg to Mama Seibou 90th-minute strike from the penalty spot in Benin last week, goals from Rabiu Ali and Kingsley Eduwo in either half was enough to earn Nigeria a two nil second leg victory in Kano.

Benin spurned a golden chance to pull level on aggregate in the 63rd minute when the referee pointed to the penalty spot following Stephen Eze’s handball in the area, Mama Seibou then failed to convert thanks to Ikechukwu Ezenwa’s brilliant save.

The victory means Nigeria will make her third appearance at the CHAN tournament, after failing to qualify for the first two editions before winning bronze in 2014 and getting knocked out in the group stage in 2016.

The 2018 CHAN would take place in Kenya From January 11 to February 2.
