CAF CC: Rangers Take Advantage of Salitas in Group Opener

Football fans in the Coal City were thrilled to an exciting fixture on Sunday in the CAF Confederation Cup game between Rangers International of Enugu and Salitas of Burkina Faso.

Rangers began their Confederation Cup group stage against the visitors from Burkina Faso with a two nil win at The Cathedral; Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu with goals from Godwin Aguda and James Loute.

The Flying Antelopes left no stone unturned as they showed their attacking prowess from the very beginning of the encounter with Godwin Aguda getting the opener after just 1 minute and 10 seconds of regulation time.

Aguda made a fine dash through the Salitas defence, he made a final cut and without much though hit the ball with a curling shot that left Sawagado helpless.

The game wore on with the visitors trying their chances but Ghanaian international Nana Bonsu displaying his goalkeeping prowess.

The second goal came for Rangers in then 60th minute from a perfectly taken free kick from James Loute which went over the Salitas wall without hinderance and hit the left bar before settling in the back post.

The 2018 Aiteo Cup champions move to the top of Group B pending the outcome of the Etolie du Sahel and CS Sfaxien fixture.
