Bundesliga Review: Bayern Extend Lead To 20 Points With Big Win Over Freiburg

Bayern Munich have taken a big step towards retaining their title after they thrashed their hosts Freiburg 4-0 on Sunday to extend their lead at the top of the German Bundesliga table to 20 points.

Goals from Alexander Schwolow (own goal), Corentin Tolisso, Sandro Wagner and Thomas Mueller gave the visitors their 20th league win of the season.

The win takes Bayern Munich to 63 points and 20 points ahead of their nearest challengers Schalke 04 while Freiburg (29 points) stay in 13th spot.

In the other game on Sunday, VfB Stuttgart came from a goal down to beat FC Cologne 3-2 away from home.

Mario Gomez scored two goals in quick succession for Stuttgart on the stroke of halftime to overturn Claudio Pizarro’s 7th minute strike for the hosts.

Milan Jojic equalised for Cologne with 11 second half minutes gone and further went behind almost immediately when Andreas Beck put the away side 3-2 ahead.

Stuttgart thereafter held on for an impressive victory to pile more misery on basement club Cologne.

The hosts are rooted to the bottom (18th spot) with 17 points while Stuttgart (33 points) move three places from 12th to 9th position.
