Balotelli Sees Yellow For Racism Complaint During Ligue 1 Clash

Striker Mario Balotelli was controversially booked during his Nice side’s 3-2 loss to Dijon in a French Ligue 1 clash on Saturday night after he complained to the centre referee about alleged racist chants.

The former Italian international striker was booked in the 74th minute by centre referee Nicolas Rainville for his angry reaction.

Dijon took the lead after the hour mark through Julio Tavares before Pierre Lees Melou and Alassane Plea turned the game on its head within three minutes.

Tavares completed his brace afterwards from the penalty spot to level matters for the hosts paving the way for Kwon Chang-hoon to score a late winner thus giving Dijon an important win.

Speaking after the game, Nice president Jean-Pierre Reivere was only furious with officiating generally dating back to the previous matches and he didn’t mention the Mario Balotelli incident.
