AUDIO: We Won’t Disappoint Nigeria In Morocco – Dayo Ojo

Home-based Super Eagles midfielder Dayo Ojo has told www.busybuddiesng.com the team ‘will not disappoint’ Nigerians at the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.

Nigeria, whose best outing in the tournament reserved exclusively for players plying their trade in their respective domestic leagues is a third place finish in South Africa four years ago, have been drawn to face Rwanda, 2014 Champions Libya and Equatorial Guinea in Group C of the 2018 CHAN which starts on 13 January and ends on 4 February.

Despite an underwhelming preparation so far for the tournament, the Sunshine Stars midfield Trojan remains optimistic the Eagles will thrive in Morocco.

“Considering the fact that we didn’t have enough time to train, but as a professional (footballer), any game you play is very important,” the former El Merreikh of Sudan player noted.

“Going to Morocco with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, so many Nigerians are expecting us to well and I believe we are not going to disappoint them.”

Dayo Ojo is among the 23 players selected by head coach Salisu Yusuf to fly Nigeria’s flag at the 2018 CHAN despite only getting a late invitation to team last month.

He however, attributes his selection to hardwork and prayers.

“It wasn’t easy, I was not part of the team (initially) but due to hardwork and prayers, I received the call-up and I worked hard so I can make the final list,” the 23-year old said.

“Thank God that today, I’m part of the 23 (players) that will represent Nigeria (at the CHAN).”

The Super Eagles are expected to depart Nigeria for Rabat, Morocco in the coming days to continue preparations for the tournament.

Their opening game is against Rwanda on 15 January in Tangier.
