Akwa United have confirmed the return of forward, Ubong Friday to the club on a second stint ahead of the start of the 2019/2020 season.
Speaking to busybuddiesng.com, Chairman of the two-time Federation Cup champions, Paul Bassey revealed the 26-year-old was back to team up with the club after spending a brief period in the Armenian League.
“Ubong left. He went to Armenia, it did not work for him and he taught he should come back. He didn’t leave under any acrimony. We didn’t quarrel with him. He left on mutual consent. He went to try play in Europe and it did not work,” He said.
The sexagenarian maintained the former had been given the benefit of doubt considering his fitness level was not in doubt.
“He is still in form, why won’t we sign him. We re-signed him,” Bassey concluded.
