The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has made the welfare of stakeholders its priority after all the national athletes, coaches and officials were flown to Abuja from their Port Harcourt ahead of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) Trials.
This is the first time in recent years that the national athletics body will make the welfare of home-based athletes its top priority.
The CWG trials is scheduled for Abuja from February 13-17.
The Federation revealed the decision to fly athletes by air on Twitter. The tweet said: “All National Athletes, Coaches and Officials in camp at the HPC in PH, were this morning flown to Abuja for the CWG Trials.
This’s a first from the Federation in recent years, where the welfare of home based athletes are priorities.”
