Arsenal Lacked Winning Mentality When I Joined —David Luiz

Former Brazil international David Luiz says Arsenal lacked a winning mentality when he first joined the club from Chelsea in 2019.

Luiz was signed by Unai Emery and spent two years at the Emirates Stadium, where he featured in 73 games in all competitions.

Following a poor start to the season where Arsenal won just once in nine games, Emery was sacked in November.

Arteta, who retired at the Emirates as club captain in 2016, returned to north London where he was appointed in what remains his first managerial role.

And Luiz has credited Arteta for bringing ambition back to Arsenal, with the pair winning the FA Cup and Community Shield together.
