Aina On Target As Fulham Beat Ajayi’s West Brom

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina scored his first ever Premier League goal as Fulham secured their first league win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Semi Ajayi’s West Bromwich Albion at Craven Cottage to move out of the bottom three.

Aina was on from the start alongside compatriots Ademola Lookman and Tosin Adarabioyo for Fulham while Ajayi started in defence for the Baggies.

Both sides, newly-promoted to the topflight were in search of a first win in the league this season after six games with Fulham bagging just a solitary point while Slaven Bilic’s side had managed three draws.

But it was the Lilly Whites who took their first three points of the campaign with former Chelsea defender Aina who has been named in Nigeria’s squad to face Sierra Leone next week central to the win.

Aina who is on a season-long loan from Torino doubled the Cottagers’ lead with a spectacular effort on the half-hour mark, four minutes after Bobby Decordova-Reid headed Scott Parker’s side ahead from close range.

Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was involved in both goals.

The Cottagers could have had a third but both Tom Cairney and Decordova-Reid had efforts cleared off the goal-line within seconds of each other.

Lookman was subbed off in added time as Fulham looked to kill time.

West Brom hit the crossbar through Conor Townsend, but Slaven Bilic’s side remain without a league win in 2020-21 and replace Fulham in the relegation zone.
