Wilfred Ndidi’s return from injury saw Leicester City snap a three-game winless spell to beat West Ham 4-1 with Super Eagles teammate Kelechi Iheanacho also instrumental to the win at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday.

Key midfielder Ndidi had been expected to miss six weeks of action after injuring his meniscus in training but made a “miraculous recovery” to boost the Foxes just 13 days after a knee surgery.

He’d missed the Foxes’ last three games all of which Leicester failed to win but was named on the bench alongside compatriot Iheanacho for the encounter at the Kings Power.

Ndidi made an earlier than expected entrance into the fray after he was introduced for the injured Nampalys Mendy in the 34th minute with Leicester leading through Harvey Barnes’ effort.

Iheanacho also owed his introduction to an injury as leading scorer Jamie Vardy hobbled off with the Nigerian coming on in his place in the 43rd minute and Leicester doubled their lead minutes later through Ricardo Pereira’s sumptuous finish from Barnes’ cutback.

Ndidi’s rustiness was shown up in the second half as he gave away a penalty which was converted by West Ham captain Mark Noble to cut the deficit but the Foxes scored twice late on with Iheanacho playing a vital part in both goals.

First, Iheanacho won a penalty after he was hacked down by Angelo Ogbonna in the 80th minute with Ayoze Perez scoring the spot-kick to put Leicester 3-1 up.

The Nigerian forward then helped Perez to a brace eight minutes later freeing up the Spaniard to drill in a fourth with minutes to go as Leicester got back to winning ways after four games.
