Kelechi Iheanacho is the toast of Leicester City fans worldwide following his spectacular performance in the Foxes’ 4-1 thrashing of West Ham on Wednesday.
Nigerians were also not left out with many taking to social media to express joy at the return to form of a player many had despaired would fail to reach his potential after he was unceremoniously axed from the Super Eagles on the back of a sustained slump that saw him fail to score for Leceister in over a year.
All that has now been forgotten as the Super Eagles star served up a timely reminder of the talent that had many purring over him as a 17-year-old and is bound to catch the eye of Gernot Rohr.
Iheanacho came off the bench as a 42nd-minute substitute for the injured Jamie Vardy to win a penalty scored by Ayoze Perez and bag an assist for the same player late on as Leicester, who also welcomed back key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from injury, recorded their first win in four games.
His performance allayed Foxes’ fans fears about the injured Vardy and the plaudits kept on coming for the Nigerian.
