Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Super Sport United have terminated the contract of Nigerian defender Azubuike Egwuekwe after just one season.

His exit was confirmed by a club source which said (via kickoff) that: “Egwuekwe is gone.”

“The club is looking at signing Bongani Khumalo and another centre-back from Zimbabwe.

“The club has recalled back the youngster Kamo from Ubuntu.” The source concluded.

Former Warri Wolves centre back Egwuekwe signed for Super Sport United from Finnish side KuPS in 2017.

He, however, failed to really make a positive impact despite scoring twice in 13 appearances in all competitions for the South African side last season.

Azubuike Egwuekwe made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in 2012 and has scored 2 goals in 35 appearances for the three-time African champions.
