Kelechi Nwakali Joins FC Porto On Loan

Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has joined Portuguese Super League giants FC Porto on loan from Arsenal.

The 20-year-old leaves the Gunners on a season-long loan deal to Porto with an option to buy.

His transfer was confirmed by the Portuguese outfit on Wednesday night.

The 2015 U17 World Cup winner joined Arsenal in 2016 and has yet to play for the North London giants.

He has been farmed out on loan by Arsenal on three occasions since he moved to the Emirates Stadium.

Kelechi Nwakali joined Dutch club MVV Maastricht on a temporary deal twice either side of his loan spell at VVV Venlo.

Speaking on his loan move to FC Porto, he said: “My main goal is to develop and evolve as a player, to improve my qualities and the other aspects that I know I need to correct to grow in the way I play.

“I think FC Porto is the right place to evolve as a player.” He concluded.

Nwakali is now a full Nigerian international after he made his debut for the Super Eagles team B in a 3-2 loss to Spanish La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.
