Ethiopian Runner Beletew Targets Olympics Gold After 20km Walk Triumph In Asaba (Audio)

Ethiopian long distance runner Yehualeye Beletew is targeting gold in the 20km walk at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after her heroics at the just concluded African Senior Athletics Championship in Asaba, Delta State.

Beletew surprisingly won the women’s 20km walk final as she relegated six-time champion Grace Wanjiru of Kenya to second place.

Wanjiru had won gold in the race for 2004, 2008,2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016 editions of the African Championship in addition to winning bronze in the 2002 edition.

Speaking after her amazing feat, the 19-year-old athlete revealed that her target is to continue to improve and also represent her country in upcoming competitions and most especially, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
