World football’s governing body, FIFA has sanctioned Morocco, Serbia, hosts Russia and other countries due to various offences committed at the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament.

The decision to clamp down on these countries was reached by the body’s Disciplinary Committee.

According to the committee, North African side Morocco will pay the huge sum of $65,650 in addition to the country’s football association being warned for future conducts after six members of the technical staff forced their way into the pitch after the Group B clash with Spain.

13 officials were also present in the technical area (the maximum allowed is 11) as well as crowd disturbance on the part of the Moroccan fans who threw objects during the game which ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Football Association of Serbia received a warning from FIFA in addition to a $20,200 fine for the display of a political and offensive banner.

FIFA also fined both Mexico and Russia to the tune of $15,150 and $10,100 respectively, while their football associations were warned over future conducts.

Mexico was given the fine for crowd disturbance by supporters who threw objects during their final Group F match with Sweden, while hosts Russia were penalised for the display of a discriminatory banner.

FIFA Disciplinary Committee also sounded a note of warning to both the Brazilian and Serbian Football Associations (for the conduct of their fans during their Group E opener which ended 1-1); the Egyptian Football Association for breach of media and marketing regulations for Russia 2018 (for the absence of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah during the post-match press conference despite being named the Man of the Match); Spanish Football Association for breach of media and marketing regulations for Russia 2018 (for the use of unauthorised branded items by several players); Morocco international forward Nourreddine Amrabat (for displaying an offensive behaviour following the aforementioned Spain match); Morocco’s assistant coach, Patrice Beaumelle (for improper behaviour after the game with Spain); and Morocco Football  Association President, Fouzi Lekjaa (for staying in the technical area before the end of the Spain clash)

Lastly, the committee revealed that it has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Swiss Football Association following the conduct of some Swiss officials who forced their access to the field of play illegally without proper accreditation.
