D’Tigers Overpower Rwanda To Record Second FIBA World Cup Qualifying Win

Nigeria’s senior male basketball team, D’Tigers recorded a second successive victory in the second leg, first round of the 2019 FIBA African qualifiers by beating Rwanda 111-70 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos on Saturday.

The Alex Nwora-led team had already for the second round of the qualifiers with Friday night’s 109-66 win over Uganda but still had the motivation to secure a big-margin victory over Rwanda in their second Group B game.

Obi Emegano emerged as the team’s topscorer with 24 points, while Jordan Nwora added 17 points and 9 rebounds.

Ben Uzoh was also impressive for D’Tigers as he weighed in with 14 points and three assists.

The result takes their record to 5-0 in the group ahead of the final game against West African rivals Mali at the same venue on Sunday.
