2 Nigerian Athletes Qualify For Youth Olympic Games Via Canoeing

Two Team Nigeria athletes have qualified for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) scheduled to take place in Argentina later this year (October).

This was revealed by the Nigeria Rowing Canoe and Sailing Federation on Monday.

According to the federation Secretary, Bunmi Oluode, the two athletes namely Blessing Amusar and Ayomide Bello qualified through the World Canoe Championships in Barcelona, Spain.

Amusar qualified for women’s kayak while Bello qualified for the Women’s canoe event at the qualification championship, which took place from April 6 to April 15.

In her words, Oluode said: “This is a good news for Nigeria and the federation because two of our athletes will be part of the YOG later this year, after participating and qualifying at the Canoe World Championship in Spain.

“We want to thank our sponsors and the Sports Ministry for supporting the federation in achieving the feat.“ she added.

Two male and two female athletes represented Team Nigeria at the World Championships in Spain.
