“Thanks to wearing a seat belt…” Aguero opens up on Amsterdam car crash.

Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero has opened up about his lucky escape from a car crash in Amsterdam on September 29.

The Argentina international was on his way to the Amsterdam Airport from a concert where he was a guest of Colombian singer Maluma, when the taxi in which he was travelling crashed into a lamp post, leaving him with a broken rib.

The 29-year-old’s injuries were expected to keep him sidelined for close to six weeks and missed Argentina’s crucial World Cup qualifying game against Ecuador.

“When I got to the hospital, I asked the doctor if I could play for City on the Saturday. He said, ‘I don’t believe so’.I took a moment to think and realised it’s thanks to wearing a seat-belt that I’m able to talk about this at all. Then one thinks, ‘Why did I go?’ But it’s difficult to imagine that something like that could happen.” Aguero said, thankful to be alive.

Aguero seems to be recovering quickly as he is back in training with Manchester City and could return to action against Stoke City this weekend at the Etihad Stadium.
