Former Athletic Bilbao winger Ibai Gomez became the first Alaves player to score an away hattrick in the Spanish La Liga thereby helping his side to a 3-2 comeback win at Girona.

Christian Stuani and Juanpe scored within three second half minutes to give the home side a 2-0 lead before the Ibai Gomez show began.

He pulled one back with 19 minutes left on the clock and thereafter levelled proceedings from the penalty spot before completing his hattrick with virtually the last kick of the game.

Alaves (9 points) started the game from the bottom of the league but the morale boosting win has now taken them above Malaga (8 points) to 19th place while Girona stay in 12th position with 17 points.
