Premier League Clubs Agree On VAR

After a fair amount of controversies rocking the refereeing situation in England, Video Assistant Referees are set to be used in the Premier League starting next season, after the clubs agreed in principle to the move.

The Premier League will now officially make a request to the International Football Association Board and FIFA to use VAR.

The Premier League has been carrying out continuous trials, and clubs were presented with an update at a meeting held on Thursday.

VAR was used at this summer’s World Cup in Russia and is used in Italy and Germany’s top divisions and even the CAF Champions League Final.

Since it’s inception, it has been used to carry out monumental decisions that have determined the outcome of critical matches and an introduction into the Premier League will see a drastic reduction in complaints from teams about wrong calls from officials.
