NWPL Can Compete With Any League In The World – Falode (AUDIO)

Chairperson of Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Aisha Falode has boasted that the women’s league in the country can compete favourably with others in the world.

The NFF board member stated this in Lagos after watching Bayelsa Queens defeat defending champions, Nasarawa Amazons 2-0 in the final of the Super 4 tournament to clinch the Nigeria Women Premier League title on Sunday at the Agege Stadium.

“The final between the defending champions (Nasarawa Amazons) and Bayelsa Queens was something else,” the former CAF Media Committee member said.

“The two goals that were scored, the artistry of the football that was displayed here today (Sunday) is something that I am amazed with. I am very proud to say that ‘so there’s this quality in the Nigerian women’s league’.

“This women’s league can compete with any in the world now. I can stand here without any fear of contradiction to tell you that,” she boasted.

Falode equally expressed satisfaction over the quality of the women’s league and promised to work harder with her board to raise the bar.

“This is what we want to see in the Nigerian women’s league. So I will say ‘I’m satisfied’. And I am sure that the board of the Nigeria Women Football League, we will keep doing what we are doing, and we can only build on the successes we recorded from 2017 to 2018.”

It is left to be seen how the NWPL can compete with other leagues in the world given that, especially in Europe, their leagues are better organized, developed, well-funded and enjoy better facilities.
