CAFCC: Rangers Target Win Against Salitas In Opener – Ogunbote (AUDIO)

Rangers coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has said the Flying Antelopes have set their sight on grabbing all three points when they face Salitas of Burkina Faso on Sunday in their opening group game of the 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Aiteo Cup holders, who are also drawn with former champions Etoile du Sahel and CS Sfaxien (both of Tunisia) in Group B of the competition, face the Burkinabes at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.

“When you are in a group stage, the one thing you want to strive to get is to get your first match,” the former Enyimba coach said.

“As we will be playing at home, we will put in everything humanly possible – work hard, train well and pray very well – to make sure we get the three points.

“Three points in our bag will give us more confidence to do better in subsequent games.”

In spite of the pedigree of the Tunisian sides in Group B, Ogunbote, who led Sunshine Stars to both the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup in the past, is optimistic Rangers will qualify for the knockout stages.

“Well, the truth of the matter is at this stage, there is little or nothing you can do avoiding some other clubs,” he noted.

“This is where you see the best legs, the best teams from the best countries coming together to play, and this is the real concentration tournament.

“So, much as we have seen it, people call it the ‘group of death’, but I know by God’s grace, it will end in praise.”
