NSF: Nigeria Wrestling Federation President Thrilled With Impressive Outings By States (AUDIO)

After two days of action in wrestling at the ongoing 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja, no fewer than 15 different states have won medals in the sport.

The likes of Edo, Kogi, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Anambra, Cross River, Rivers and Plateau States etc are all on the medals table, ensuring the powerhouses Bayelsa, Ondo and Delta have not completely dominated the events.

And President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation Hon. Daniel Igali says he is impressed with the development.

“It’s been very exciting,” the Olympic champion said, when asked of his impression of Women’s Wrestling at the Festival.

“My happiness stems from the fact that so many states have won medals here. At the last count, about 15 different states have won medals. That tells you the spread of wrestling in the country.

“And I want to see a bit more of that in Freestyle tomorrow (Saturday).”

Wrestling will be concluded on Saturday with the men engaging themselves in the Freestyle events at the Velodrome.
