NPFL Referee Assault – LMC To Charge Three Suspects To Court In Bauchi

The League Management Company (LMC) of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), has arrested and charged to court, three suspects, for throwing objects at match officials during a League game Bauchi.

According to the LMC’s official twitter handle(@LMCNPFL ), three suspects, Mohammed Isa, Hamisu Mohammed & Yola Ishaya aka Chara, was arrested and charged to an Upper Shariya Court in Bauchi, following the assault that halted the game between Wikki Tourist and Enugu Rangers.

The LMC statement read: “3 persons arrested in connection with throwing objects at match officials for in Bauchi are to be arraigned in court shortly

“They’re being held at the GRA Police Station, Bauchi for attacking match officials in the Wikki vs Rangers game on Sunday.”

The Wikki Tourist vs Rangers game was stopped for over 30 minutes, following the incident that left one assistant referee injured due to an object thrown from the stands.

“Chara was identified as the suspect who threw an object at the 2nd assistant ref that led to halting of the match in the first half.”

“The other two, Isa & Hamisu were alleged to have attacked match officials while they were being escorted out of the stadium.”

“LMC is monitoring the development & Wikki Tourists management is cooperating with the police in Bauchi the statement added

The match was resumed as both teams battled to a 1-1 draw in the Matchday 33 fixture.
