NPFL: Amapakabo Primed For Thriller Against Akwa Utd (AUDIO)

Abia Warriors boss Imama Amapakabo anticipates an entertaining fixture when leaders Akwa United come calling at Okigwe on matchday 23 on Thursday.

The intriguing encounter pits Warriors who are unbeaten in seven games at home against Kennedy Boboye’s side who haven’t lost in six games on the road and have won twice in that run.

Akwa United, the form team in the league, are unbeaten in 12 games an impressive run that has seen them take results at Enyimba, Sunshine Stars, Jigawa Golden Stars and all three points at MFM and neighbours Dakkada last time out.

Abia Warriors have been no less impressive this season, recovering from four losses and three draws in their opening seven games to being within three points of eighth-place.

They also became the first team this season to leave Rivers United’s Adokiye Amiesimaka home with a share of the spoils last time out, a result that saw Amapakabo talk up his tactical superiority over counterpart Stanley Eguma

With both sides committed to a free-flowing style of playing, Amapakabo believes the game will make for an entertaining spectacle for fans and neutrals alike and despite the visitors’ impressive form, the former Super Eagles assistant boss said he’ll be aiming for all three points on Thursday.

“Another game, come Thursday. It’s going to be an entertaining game so to say, on a better pitch [compared with the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium],” he said.

“We’ll see two teams that will come out to play, but I go in for every game to want the win. I wish my team the best of luck in the game.”

Abia Warriors are 13th in the table with 28 points while Akwa United have 41 points and lead the standings on goals difference ahead of Kano Pillars.
