Nigeria Seal Sixth World Cup Appearance After Zambia Win

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after they defeated Zambia 1-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Substitute Alex Iwobi was the hero for Nigeria as he netted the only goal of the game with 17 minutes left. The Arsenal star made no mistake from a perfect cutback delivered by right back Shehu Abdullahi to give his team the crucial goal.

The win takes Nigeria’s point tally to an unassailable 13 points ahead of nearest challengers Zambia (7 points), Cameroon (5 points) and Algeria (1 point).

Apart from qualifying for a sixth final appearance, Nigeria also became the first African team to qualify for Russia 2018 joining other countries like Brazil,  Belgium, England and Mexico.
