Liverpool In Double Fitness Boost Ahead Of UCL Final

Liverpool have received a double fitness boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League (UCL) final clash with holders Real Madrid on Saturday.

Midfielders James Milner and Emre Can have been cleared for the Madrid game after both players passed their respective fitness tests.

Milner missed the last league game of the season against Brighton with a muscle injury while Emre Can has speedily recovered from the back injury he sustained in the Reds’ league game against Watford in March.

The injury update was given by the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp on Thursday evening during a chat with the club’s website.

He said: “Millie was clear [he would be fit] and Emre is a surprise.”

“He told me he would come back, try this and that and then we would talk to people.

“We thought it would be difficult, but he came back and from the first day it was like, ‘OK, that looks good, how do you feel?’ ‘Very good’ and then the next day ‘very good’ again.

“Now he trains completely normal. He’s a nice option and that’s why he is with us.” he concluded.

Can, 24, will be hoping he can make one final appearance before leaving the club as his current contract expires this summer with Italian champions in pole position to land him on a five-year deal.

The Italian giants CEO Giuseppe Moratta while expressing optimism about landing him said: “There are many clubs interested, but I am optimistic because Juventus is a great club.”

“When he decides to leave his club, we will have a very good chance. In around 10 days that deal could become crystalised, either positively or negatively.” he concluded.
