France National Team Coach Pens New Deal Until 2020

France’s senior national team coach Didier Deschamps has penned a new contract until 2020 according to the country’s Football Federation.

The former national team captain took charge of Les Bleus in 2012 before leading his side to the 2016 European Championship on home soil. They lost that final 1-0 to eventual winners Portugal.

In addition to his previous successes, Deschamps has also secured qualification for France ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Speaking about the no-brainer decision to hand the 49-year old a new deal, the French Football Federation president Noel Le Grant said:

“Didier for me is the best, there is no contest.”
