Kelechi Iheanacho Fires Leicester City To Community Shield Glory

Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench to fire home the winning goal from the spot as FA Cup winners Leicester City edged Champions Manchester City 1-0 to win the season opening Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday.

Iheanacho who had come on in the 79th minute won the penalty ten minutes after coming on, winning the ball off Nathan Ake who then fouled the Nigerian in the box.

The Super Eagles striker dusted himself up to fire emphatically past Zack Steffen to help the Foxes beat his former side as they won the curtain raiser for only the second time in their history.

After scoring 19 goals in all competitions for the Foxes last season, the 24-year-old couldn’t have wished for a better start to the season as he picked up his second piece of silverware as a Leicester player along side compatriot Wilfred Ndidi who played all ninety minutes of the encounter.
