Ivory Coast’s World Cup Bid Suffers Dent With Mali Draw

Ivory Coast face a big battle to qualify for Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup after they were held to a goalless draw by Mali in their Group C clash in Bamako.

Marc Wilmots’ men knew a win would take them to within reach of a place in Russia however that appears to be more complicated for the Elephants ahead of the final game against the Atlas of Morocco at home following the draw at Mali.

The draw takes Ivory Coast two points clear of second-placed Morocco who face hosts Gabon on Saturday while bottom Group C team Mali remain rooted to the basement with 3 points.

Current Standings:

  1. Ivory Coast 8 points (5 games played)
  2. Morocco 6 points (4 games played)
  3. Gabon 5 points (4 games played)
  4. Mali 3 points (5 games played)
