Italian Serie A Wrap: Top Two Maintain Perfect Start

The top two teams in the Italian Serie A namely Napoli and champions Juventus maintained their 100% start to the season following wins in their various Matchday 6 clashes.

Visitors Napoli needed a late goal from Algerian international Faouzi Ghoulam to secure a slim 3-2 victory over SPAL thus maintaining their spotless start to the season. Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon were also on the score sheet for Maurizio Sarri’s men.

Champions Juventus also made it 6 wins out of 6 games after they thrashed city rivals Torino 4-0. Juventus took an early lead through the in-form Paolo Dybala before midfielder Daniele Baselli saw red for the visitors in the 24th minute after a second yellow card.

Juventus fully capitalised on their numerical advantage with Miralem Pjanic getting a second goal before halftime. Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro added a third goal after the interval before Dybala completed his brace with the final whistle approaching to make it an impressive 10 goals in 6 league games this season.

The other Serie A game on Saturday saw AS Roma beat Udinese 3-1 at home to move into the top 4 with Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Sharawwy (2) getting the goals for the Rome outfit. Diego Perotti missed a big chance for 4-0 from the penalty spot very late in the game before Danish player Jens Stryger Larsen scored a consolation goal for Udinese.

Other big teams like AC Milan, Lazio, Fiorentina and Inter Milan have a chance to close the gap on the leading teams when they take to the field on Sunday.
